Rubbers straps can last 1 to 10 years depending on your environment and wearing style, some companies recommended a replacement after 2 years but looked after properly it will you give you many more.
Fitting your strap
The Diver One 20mm rubber strap is designed around the Diver One watch but will fit other makes of watches, the diver one spring bars have strong springs and care must be taken when installing and removing, We recommended the use of plastic tools whenever possible.
The Bell Diver 1 and Top Side Crew fitted rubber straps are specifically made for those watches, as they are fitted rubber it will take a bit more pressure to ensure the spring bars fit into place.
Care and Maintenance
Clean your rubber strap with fresh water and mild soap as often as possible especially after contact with salt water.
Heat, the salts from water and your skin can dry out and harden the rubber causing cracks and this could cause premature breaks.
Avoid contact of any products that may stain or dry out the rubber for instance; suntan lotion, perfumes and after shave, alcohol, aerosol sprays especially WD40, oils and lubricants
Never clean your strap with any solvents these will dry out the rubber and reduce the lifespan considerably.
Check your rubber strap regularly for cracks or brittle areas and replace if necessary.
White rubber
White rubber can mark easily and care must be taken around certain products, for instance make up, suntan lotions, the die from dark jeans and certain hand bags, marks may be removed by cleaning in warm water with soap and a small soft toothbrush, marks may also be removed with a white eraser.
Fitting your watch
When fitting your watch never put any force on the rubber, find the correct adjustment to fit you and do not wear your watch too tight, push the adjustment side of the strap through the buckle carefully, always slide the keepers into place, do not adjust the keepers by pulling on the adjustment tail of the strap, pulling on the adjustment tail will cause the keepers to break over a short period of time.
